Sara Weyland
From a young age, I have been exposed to the intersection of science and nature with a pharmaceutical research chemist for a father and an avid gardener and amateur botanist for a mother. Despite this early exposure, it took several years to find my way to herbs and natural healing. I spent almost a decade my adult life working in the corporate world (in the NJ/NYC Metro area) as an executive conference producer and marketing director. During this stressful time, I watched several people close to me, myself included, benefit from various forms of natural medicine. These experiences sparked a growing interest in complementary medicine, which culminated in a complete career shift.
In 2004 I began my studies at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in London where I learned about the principles of naturopathy, and then transferred to the University of Westminster, London, where I focused on Western Herbal Medicine. Since graduating with a first class BSc honours degree in Herbal Medicine, I have been practising as a medical herbalist and continually updating my practice with new learning and research from a variety of medical traditions always in search of what seems best for my patients. Most recently I trained and qualified as a NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique) practitioner and have found this to be an invaluable tool for uncovering and treating root causes of allergies and disease.
In addition to practising as a herbalist and NAET practitioner, I am a visiting lecturer for the School of Life Sciences, Complementary Therapies department at the University of Westminster in central London. I also periodically give talks to local groups on a variety of subjects including herbal first aid for home, introduction to herbal medicine, detox and cleansing and understanding allergies.
Sara's Philosophy
The more I have studied and experienced natural medicine, the more convinced I have become in the body's extraordinary innate healing capabilities. The key is to unlock the blockages that keep us from enjoying optimal health by using the best tools available from all healing disciplines. My therapeutic approach is to focus on the individual person rather than a group of symptoms or disease. I enjoy working with patients to help them regain health.
